My (Past) Week In Fitness: Back In It

In terms of exercise, this has been the best week I have had in nearly seven months!  This past weekend marked the first one in which I had no classes to deal with, and I have been on vacation from work to boot!  That left plenty of time to get back into a fitness routine, and on top of that, all my exercise was morning exercise, which for me is the absolute best kind!  I also lifted weights for the first time consistently in, like I said, at least seven months.  Needless to say, I am quite happy with myself for getting back in it!

This is so true for me! I can be such a grump sometimes if I don’t exercise!

Here’s how my week broke down:

Monday, December 24th: 10.25 miles on the treadmill (8 run, 2.25 walked); 3.45 mile walk with the husband; upper body lifting (5 exercises, 3 sets each)

Tuesday, December 25th:  Off

Wednesday, December 26th:  12.3 miles on the treadmill (10 run, 2.3 walked); legs lifting (6 exercises, 3 sets each)

Thursday, December 27th:  90 minutes on the elliptical (covering 6.2 miles)

Friday, December 28th:  10.25 miles on the  treadmill (8 run, 2.25 walked); upper body lifting (5 ex, 3 sets each)

Saturday, December 29th:  15.6 miles on the treadmill (13.1 run, 2.5 walked); 60 minutes on the elliptical with the husband

Sunday, December 30th:  4.2 mile walk on the treadmill

Getting in four solid runs was an awesome accomplishment.  I know when I go back to work, I won’t be running as much (I hate running in the afternoon) but I do plan on getting to the gym for other exercise (crosstraining and/or weights) at least three times a week after school.  I will also keep up my running on the weekends.  Honestly, I am just so stoked I can finally be more active on weekdays!

My body has responded really well to all of this exercise.  No aches and no pains were experienced, which is kind of surprising given the sudden increase in both the number of workouts, duration, and intensity.  As far as the weightlifting went, I took it easy– I didn’t lift too heavy, nor did I do quite as much as I used to.  I hope with time I will be at the level I was at before I took my hiatus.

Today and tomorrow are definitely gym days– I wonder how crazy the gym will be tomorrow morning?  Wednesday I will be back to work, and I do plan to go to the gym after school as well.

I guess that’s all I’ve got for you this week– let’s just say it feels really good to report to you all that I have exercised more than once or twice in a week!

Do you have any New Year’s fitness goals?  I’m still working mine out!
