Sunday With Jacky
I have discussed here before how I am not one who typically enjoys going out on Sunday nights. I have a 4:45 A.M. wakeup call on Mondays, which means if I am not on the couch by six in my pajamas on a Sunday, then usually, I am not happy. However, I am proud to say I broke my “it’s Sunday so I become a hermit” tradition this past Sunday and actually left my house at six to go out to dinner!
See, it was quite a wonderful occasion that got me out of the house. One of my husband’s old college roommates (whom I adore) was in Rhode Island for the weekend for a family celebration, coming all the way from Montana. This particular friend really holds a special place in both of our hearts– he actually stayed with us for a bit while he was doing an internship in Rhode Island and we had seriously one of the most fun months ever. It was also the month of our wedding, so he did his fair share of wedding related tasks to help us out (including going with my brother and husband to fetch me a surprise ice cream cake for my birthday, which was the day after our wedding). C, as I will call him, is one of my favorite people ever and when we found out he would be in Providence for a night, we were all over it!
We wanted to take him somewhere that really captured the whole Providence experience, and Jacky’s, a Pan-Asian and Sushi restaurant right on the Providence waterfront, seemed like the idea place to go!
Our table had a great view of the Providence waterfront and Providence Place Mall. Those little gold orbs are just reflections of the intricate chandeliers in the restaurant!
The boys and I started with some green tea.
They went sushi crazy, while I stuck to what I know and love. I started with a whole order of vegetarian fresh veggie rolls, dipped in my favorite peanut sauce.
Edamame for protein. . .
and the main event was some sauteed Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce and brown rice! Let me tell you, if you have never had Chinese broccoli before, DO IT! It was delicious– it tasted like broccoli but had the texture of hearty greens! I would get it again in a heartbeat!
We spent the evening feasting and reminiscing about the good old days in Providence. C was such a big part of our life for that one wedding month of ours, and we had a blast remembering all the shenanigans that went down.
On the way out, we said goodbye to Jacky’s, goodbye to the huge aquarium at Jacky’s, and sadly, we also had to say goodbye to C, who was taking a flight back to the midwest the next morning.
I guess I will go out on a Sunday. . . if I have a wonderful reason to!
What’s your Sunday night routine, if you have one?

Chinese broccoli is so yummy! The flavorings and the texture is all done sooo right
!
My Sunday mornings end up being the most productive on the workout front. By the time I come home in the afternoon, I just want to stay indoors!!
I hear you– I also am productive on Sunday mornings, going to the gym and grocery shopping. But once I am in the house after that, I don’t like to leave. Things do change in the summer though when I don’t have to go to work on Monday!!:) Have a great night!
