Last and First Meals, Moving and Lack of Fitness!

Good morning friends!  This past few days has been such a whirlwind! As I told you a few days ago, my husband and I moved over the weekend. I have never actually participated in a full-fledged move– when my husband and I moved in together, I moved from my parents’ house into a condo we bought together. Since I was moving from my parents’ into a new condo, I had the ability just to take stuff over to the new place at my leisure a little at a time. Also, my husband and I bought all new furniture, so there was no furniture to technically move. This time around though, we really “moved.” We made the extremely smart decision to hire movers, who came on Saturday morning to get the show on the road.

Before I show some pics from the move, let me tell you about the last meal we ate in the house.  On Friday night, we got take out from our favorite falafel place, East Side Pockets.  I had a bunch of curly fries,

lots of hummus and pita chips,

and half of this amazing falafel.  It was a great way to celebrate our last night in our first home together!

On to Saturday morning. . . I took this pic of our old home as we were starting to move.  It’s a beautiful building (we lived in one of the three condos in the building), but as you can see, we are getting it painted right now before we sell it.  I can’t wait to see the end result.

I took some “before” pics of a few of the rooms in our new home before we brought stuff in, just so we could have the memories in the future.  This is the “great room,” or combo dining room and den.

This is our bedroom, which leads to a “dressing room” (left door) and another bedroom (right door).

We moved all day on Saturday, and were exhausted come Saturday night.  We feasted on pizza, chips and spinach calzones (courtesy of my amazing mother-in-law who came over with her toolkit and put together our outdoor furniture like a champ!).  We slept like babies in our new bed, and because we didn’t (and still don’t have) any food in the house, I ran out in the morning and treated myself to coffee and a blueberry cake donut from Dunkin Donuts for breakfast on Sunday.  It certainly wasn’t healthy, but it tasted good!

On Sunday, we worked to unpack the second floor, which we did, but we still have a lot of work to do in the first floor.  I don’t plan on going food shopping until tomorrow afternoon, so there still won’t be too many healthy or homecooked meals on the agenda.  In fact, the past week or so has not been full of many healthy foods, or even veggies for that matter, but all in all, I’m fine with it.  I also haven’t worked out since Thursday, and it’s not in the cards for today either.  Again, I am ok with that– making such a huge transition requires a lot of time and energy, and I haven’t had the time to be very picky about what I am eating.  Not only that, but the kitchen won’t get set up until tomorrow afternoon, so it’s not really feasible for me to cook.  Working out just hasn’t been a huge priority either– I am sure I am getting plenty of exercise cleaning and unpacking!  The goal is to more or less get back on track on Wednesday, when I have a stocked kitchen and a better routine.  Until then, I am enjoying the more relaxed attitude towards food and fitness I have had over the last week!

Well, that was a long post!  I’ll stop now and be back tomorrow, most likely with some more life updates!

Have a great day!

Have you ever done a real move?  Was it stressful, and if so, what part was the most stressful?
