I’m Back– and Truly Sorry For My Absence!

Wow– I really have been a not-so-consistent blogger this summer!

I apologize for dropping off the face of the blog world this past week– not to just give you excuses for my absence, but I do have a few legitimate reasons for why it was tough for me to get to my computer this week!

I actually started school on Monday– I actually had three full days of professional development Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and then I had my first few days with students on Thursday and Friday.  I actually had the smoothest, least anxious return to school this year in all of my eleven years of teaching, which is a great thing.  I didn’t go crazy about anything– I just went with the flow and so far, so good!  My classes seem great, and other than adjusting to a new school bell schedule that has thrown me off a bit, being back to school hasn’t been all too bad.

However, I didn’t exactly plan for the fact that I no longer could write posts in the morning.  I was waking up at 7 all summer, and then boom, with school, I am up at 4:50 and out the door at 6:15.  Morning blog post writing is out of the question now except on weekends, but I didn’t really account for that.  Evenings this past week have been really busy too so I didn’t have a good chunk of time to blog at night.  I also have been so tired after work adjusting to my too early wake up time that I ended up choosing a nap over time at the computer.

My last excuse (and it is not a good one!) is that the one or two times I did sit down to blog, my attention turned away from my blog website to furniture websites!  My husband and I are a little obsessed right now with adding the finishing decorative touches to our house, so we always end up spending an hour or two at night on various furniture and décor websites. By the time I can’t take any more images of side tables, it’s 8:30 at night and time for bed!

So needless to say, I had some pretty valid and some pretty pathetic excuses for not blogging this week.  I am intent on setting myself a schedule for blogging more consistently, plus I have a new cool post series coming up in a few weeks.  I miss being here every day, or at least almost everyday, so look for my comeback!

I know this post is super long already, but I do have one fun thing from last weekend to share with you.  Last Sunday, to serve as a fun distraction from the fact I had to return to work Monday, my husband and I decided to take a trip to Cambridge, Massachusetts to visit my old stomping grounds at Harvard.  It was a beautiful day, and we had no goals other than to walk around and check things out.  I realized it was the weekend freshman were arriving at Harvard, so it was pretty busy!  Here’s a photo bomb of some campus highlights!

We made our way to Harvard square in search of a snack.  I didn’t have any ice cream, but we did pass by J.P. Licks, who has the best ice cream in Harvard square, including soy-based flavors!

We stopped in here for a few minutes. . .

and we made our way to Crema Café because I wanted a bagel, and this place supposedly has the best bagels in the square.  While I haven’t had every type of bagel at Harvard, this bagel was pretty stellar!

I had a simple plain bagel, and it was perfectly chew inside and crispy inside.

We made it home by four in the afternoon, with plenty of time to relax before my first big day back to work.

So, tell me, what was the best part of your last week in August?
