I had a long day at work last Thursday. I taught all day, on my feet for five hours without a break. I was totally looking forward to my post-work plans, which was to go to drinks/coffee with a few of my work besties at a local restaurant called Ciara. Little did I know when I arrived I was about to be greeted with quite the surprise– one of my best friends at work organized a surprise shower for Baby B!
I was completely surprised, so this look on my face walking in is absolutely genuine!
I was immediately ushered to my seat, and I had the chance to take it all in!
I was surrounded by all of my favorite coworkers, and I was so ecstatic and grateful to see them all!
Here I am with my beautiful hostess! She did such an amazing job putting it all together (and keeping it a secret from me!). Even students knew about it!
The theme was children’s books, and the décor was absolutely adorable.
Though I had just eaten lunch a few hours before, I was more than ready to dig in again. She made sure the entire buffet was “Ami-friendly” food like grilled pizza, eggplant parmesan, salad, veggies, bread, and pasta with pink vodka sauce. In other words, it was all of my favorite foods!
After eating and mingling, it was time for cake. Of course, my friend Lianne knew exactly what kind of cake I liked and presented me with this delicious vanilla cake with real whipped cream frosting.
I enjoyed a huge slice. . . and continued to eat it for days after!
All of the teachers chipped in to buy me the highchair I wanted– the Oxo Sprout!
Even the favors were perfect– little bookmarks perfect for my baby books!
You will never hear me complain about my work on this blog (other than being tired!) because I really do work with the best people ever. The fact that so many people wanted to celebrate Baby B’s future arrival was ridiculously touching, and I still can’t get over it. I want to give the most sincere thanks to all who attended or contributed to my shower– it almost makes me sad I have to take time off from work once the baby’s here! Well. . . I guess those few months off with Baby B will be worth missing some work!!
Thank you friends– you really know how to make a girl feel loved!
